Update on Archway Cookies

Archway CookiesIn October I blogged about some bad news -- the sudden closing of Archway Cookies here in Ashland, Ohio.

Late last week we learned that Lance Inc. -- the Charlotte-based company who bought the assets of Archway Cookies -- will be reopening Archway cookies. They'll be giving hiring preference to prior employees.

It's still unknown how many people will be re-hired. Based on the comments from the Lance officials, it sounds to me like quantities will be down, and that they're preparing folks for fewer jobs than were originally lost.

Regardless, it's great news to know that the aroma of fresh-baked cookies will once again saturate the air in Ashland.

Congratulations to all the local leaders -- and former hardworking Archway employees -- who played a part in this.

MY MOTHER,WHO IS 90 YEARS OLD LOVES YOUR MOLASSES COOKIES AND I LOVE THE OATMEAL. THEY ARE THE BEST COOKIES EVER. WHY ARE THERE COUPONS FOR ARCHWAY COOKIES,WHEN THERE ARE NO STORES IN CHICAGOLAND THAT CARRY THEM? IF THERE ARE STORES IN MY AREA,PLEASE LET ME AND OTHERS KNOW.

In a time when "CEO" is a 3 letter bad word, David Singer CEO of Lance Inc. needs to be recognized for his leadership by his example. Fo this, action like this from a company cannot go unrewarded. I am hoping there is a ground swell of action from America to come and support this company for what they have done. To show, that if you "do the right thing" you will be rewarded. I will be ordering cases of Archway cookies to send out to the troops, hospitals, nursing homes, schools, and local food banks. Enclosed within each shipment there will be an explanation why they are receiving these cookies; as part of an effort to reward a man and a company for "doing the right thing."
