Jon Nicol

Jon came to Spire first as a client in 2011, then a few years later as a short-term freelancer. Then halfway through 2022, he got hired for a role that made his wife say, “Oh my gosh, this is totally you!” as she read the job description.

He served as a worship pastor for almost 20 years at a few different churches around Ohio. In 2009, he redirected his wannabe Nashville songwriter aspirations to write a blog for worship leaders. Within a few years, WorshipTeamCoach.com had morphed into a recognized resource for worship leaders — and a growing side hustle. (That’s when he became a Spire client.) In the fall of 2018, he handed off the reins of his worship ministry so he could focus full time on WorshipTeamCoach.com.

During this journey, Jon discovered that his love of marketing and business could be coupled with his knack for creative problem solving to help other businesses and leaders. He’s excited to use all that to serve Spire’s fantastic clients.

His vices include a good cigar (infrequently, by request of his wife), sampling his friend’s ridiculous bourbon collection, and re-binging shows like Mad Men, Succession, and Breaking Bad.

Jon and his wife Shannon have been married since 2001 and have four kids — none of which inherited the inside-voice gene. They enjoy kayaking, hiking, Marvel movies, and eating Shannon’s killer, homemade pretzel dogs (usually while watching something from Marvel).
