Everyone’s first expectation with the launch of a new website is for business to soar… especially into Google search results. But after launch, a quick Google search for a product or service you sell only shows you ranking in position 7 for one keyword and page 3 for another. Meanwhile, your competition is creeping up to position 2 or 3, eating up all of the traffic that you should be getting.
Take heart. You’re not alone!
Gone are the days when a few quick SEO tricks could send you surging to the top of Google’s search, bringing loads of free traffic to your virtual doorstep. Although it does happen, it’s not a common story. It often takes weeks, or even months, before we see sites start climbing up the search results because of proven SEO practices.
Here’s the issue: You need to grow NOW, and while it’s important to set a good SEO foundation on your website so you can get free traffic at some point, you can’t wait on Google to get you the leads you need to grow or even maintain status quo.
The good news is, there are other options that bring you more online traffic, in a fraction of the time, without being annoying.
Our favorite alternative traffic sources are the following:
Facebook Ads are best used to provide helpful, easily-digestible content pieces to targeted people who are interested in what you offer. This is a great way to increase the awareness of your company and establish authority in your market.
Google Display Ads are similar to a billboard, but the ads are online and targeted to a user’s interests or web behavior. You can even target people who are in the market for particular products or industries. This is a great way to significantly boost exposure, build brand recognition, and show up on huge sites like weather.com and others. You can typically get a lot of traffic for between 35-65 cents per click. We’ve even seen CPCs as low as 3 cents with these ads!
Google Text Ads are best used to reach people who are actively searching for your products, services, or even competitors. Done correctly, you’re almost guaranteed to show up at the top of search results as long as you have the budget. The only drawback is costs—you’re likely to spend between $1.40 – $12 per click, depending on the competition in your market.
When set up with the right strategy, each of these sources can provide a profitable stream of traffic as you wait for your site to start ranking in free Google search.
